Recognized as a master of the pastel, American artist Aleah Koury infuses new life into this traditional medium by combining other materials, such as metallic foil, into his compositions. His mysterious and complex floral series is inspired by his own garden, as well as the artwork of 19th century French painter Odilon Redon. Gardens in the Mist I uses many layers of pastel to create a multidimensional underpainting, over which detailed flowers and leaves are playfully drawn.
