Employee Appreciation Day: Mar 6

What’s your favorite holiday? If you were to consider your favorite, it would probably be Christmas, Thanksgiving, Mother or Father’s Day, but in all reality there are very few holidays out there that are as important as the ones that recognize the importance of some of your most important resources, your employees.

When you’re working on building an employee base that understands that you care about recognizing their achievements, enhance your appreciation value with gifts, appreciation and care while building a team spirit in the workplace- and an entire day devoted to your employees- the first Friday in March (March 6).

The Origin of Employee Appreciation Day

The first employee appreciation day was created in 1995, by Bob Nelson- who was a founding creator of the Recognition Professional International Board. Nelson’s opinion was that it’s very easy for employers to forget about their employees.

The Importance of Recognizing Your Employees

It’s a busy and hectic world, and often there come times when your workplace feels stressful and employees feel too busy and overworked- leading to feelings of depreciation and anxiety. People (sometimes even your own employees) work especially long hours, or several jobs while fearing unemployment, layoffs or pay-cuts.

Sometimes, all it takes is a little bit of encouragement or appreciation. Your employees need to know that you care about them, boosting their morale and making them feel motivated and welcome. The best part is that it isn’t all that hard to show your employees that you care- and you don’t even have to expect to spend a large chunk of change on celebrating your employee’s success.

Here are some of our favorite ideas for Employee Appreciation Day:

-Order massages in-office

-Appreciate your employees with a potluck dinner

-Bring in pizza, donuts or bagels

-Get gift cards for your employees and make them cards

-Invest in board games, silly races, even wacky games for your staff

-Make personalized awards and prizes for your staff, and make them sincere or funny to make your employees feel great

-Give your employees a more flexible schedule for the day

-Find the perfect gift from Successories!

It’s easy, important and beneficial to show your employees you care. Imagine the improvements to your workplace: higher moral, better relationships between employees, and even more efficient cost-benefit relationships. More and more, it’s essential to develop these kinds of healthy relationships because they work toward your goal of creating efficiency.
