Just because your employees have to miss out on some\nsummertime fun though, that doesn\u2019t mean you can\u2019t take steps to bring the fun\nto them. Here are a few ideas you can\nput in practice this year to make your company\u2019s summer even brighter.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Field Trips!<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n This isn\u2019t something every company will have the funds for\nbut if you can manage it, it can really make a huge difference in employee\nmorale.<\/p>\n\n\n\n It doesn\u2019t have to be anything fancy or extravagant. If your city has a zoo, for instance, you can\npick a day, or perhaps several, depending on how many employees you\u2019ve got and\nto account for staffing considerations, and start taking teams out for an\nafternoon at the zoo.<\/p>\n\n\n\n If you want to make it a bit more work related, you can also\nbuild in various team building elements, or things that encourage creativity\nand outside the box thinking which will be useful once everyone gets back to\nthe office.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Ice Cream Day<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n In most parts of the country, the summer months are\ndownright hot and there\u2019s no better cure for hot weather than a dish or cone\nfilled with cold, delicious ice cream. \nEven better, setting up an impromptu ice cream bar in the break room is\na pretty simple, low-cost proposition and it doesn\u2019t require time away from the\noffice to pull it off.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Open House Days<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n Over the course of the summer, you may want to try and\nsqueeze a couple of these in. Food and\nfun for the whole family, but this goes beyond the simple backyard BBQ at\nwork. This is a chance for the families\nof your employees to get a look behind the curtain. To come in and tour your facility so they can\nsee what their loved one does and where they do it. Done correctly, this can create a fun,\nmemorable day for everyone involved, as long as you know going in that there\nwill be a certain amount of inevitable disruption that occurs, and plan\naccordingly.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Fun Contests And\nCompetitions<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n Another idea revolves around having a variety of costume\ndays, say one a month, during the summertime. \nMaybe one month it\u2019s Tacky Hawaiian Shirt Day, and another month it\u2019s\nDisco Fever, and so on. The more\noutlandish the better, with prizes awarded to the best and\/or worst costumes on\ndisplay. It\u2019s a great way to have some\nlighthearted fun and hand out a few well-deserved prizes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n There are plenty of other ideas of course. The suggestions presented here merely scratch\nthe surface, but should serve as food for thought, giving you seeds from which\nto grow your own fully-formed ideas.
