Now, they\u2019re much more people focused than paper focused, and in the years ahead, time and technology will bring about tremendous changes to an already dynamic and growing field.  Here\u2019s a quick look at what lies ahead:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">HR trends for 2020 and Beyond<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>HR will be Advisory<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Increasingly, HR professionals are losing their reputation\nas scolds, and becoming more like career coaches for employees, guiding them on\ntheir path of development and turning employees with promise and potential into\nrock stars for the companies they serve.&nbsp;\nThis trend is bound to continue over time.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>HR will Explore and Expand Benefits<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>HR employees have their finger on the pulse of the industry\nand stay abreast of what other companies are doing and offering where benefits\nare concerned.&nbsp; In the olden days, a\ncompany could get away with offering a steady paycheck and health insurance but\ntoday\u2019s employees expect much more than that.&nbsp;\n<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>With the unemployment rate near historic lows, companies are\nhaving to think outside the box in order to attract and retain top-tier\ntalent.&nbsp; With few exceptions, that out of\nthe box thinking is coming from the HR departments of companies around the\nnation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>It\u2019s not enough though, to merely come up with new and\nenticing benefits to draw prospective employees in.&nbsp; That won\u2019t work unless the employees you\u2019re\nhoping to attract are actually aware of the benefits, which means that\nmarketing is an increasing part of an HR department\u2019s job.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>HR Compliance is Always Changing<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>With marked changes to what employees are looking for and\nthe steady drumbeat of new worker-related legislation coming down from\nCongress, it\u2019s more important than ever that every member of an HR department\nbe up to speed on what the latest changes are and how those changes impact the\ncompany they serve from a compliance perspective.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>HR Certifications will be a Becessity<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Finally, all of the changes described above are being\nstudied, codified and ultimately, HR staff\u2019s understanding of those changes is\nbeing quantified.&nbsp; One way this is being\nexpressed is in the growing number of HR-related certifications employees can\nget which demonstrate their mastery over the growing number of disciplines that\nare coalescing under the umbrella of HR.&nbsp;\nWise is the HR employee who is proactive on this front and keeps his or\nher resume up to date with a growing collection of relevant HR certifications.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The pace of change is increasing everywhere in business but\nthere are few areas of any company that are changing faster than HR.&nbsp; As a discipline, Human Resources is\nundergoing a profound transformation that\u2019s being driven by a number of factors\nincluding a changing workforce, maturing technology and evolving business\nneeds.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In the years ahead, we can expect to see HR become\nincreasingly driven by data and analytics and playing a much more proactive\nrole in shaping the future leaders of a company.&nbsp; In short, it\u2019s an amazing time to be working\nin HR.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>For decades, HR employees have been seen as diligent paper pushers.\u00a0 Business owners tended to view them as that quiet group in the back who reviewed resumes and scolded people when they broke the rules.\u00a0 Times, as they say, they are a\u2019changing, and HR is growing up.
