{"id":5193,"date":"2020-06-10T05:00:03","date_gmt":"2020-06-10T09:00:03","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.successories.com\/blog\/?p=5193"},"modified":"2021-12-16T17:05:36","modified_gmt":"2021-12-16T22:05:36","slug":"celebrating-july-4th-at-the-office","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.successories.com\/blog\/celebrating-july-4th-at-the-office\/","title":{"rendered":"Celebrating July 4th at the Office"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>With people beginning to report back to their offices, you\nmight be interested in doing something special for the 4<sup>th<\/sup> of\nJuly.&nbsp; If so, here are a few ideas to get\nyour mind turning on how to get the most out of one of the most-celebrated\nholidays in the nation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Decorations, Decorations, and More Decorations!<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>First and most obvious, you\u2019ll want to devote a portion of\nyour budget to some good, old fashioned Americana decorations.&nbsp; Red white and blue streamers, banners, flags,\nnapkins, plates and more.&nbsp; It won\u2019t take\nmuch money to turn your office into a star-spangled wonderland.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Food<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>No 4<sup>th<\/sup> of July celebration would be complete without food.\u00a0 If you can afford it, strongly consider catering lunch for your crew, but if not, organize a committee and have them arrange a potluck lunch, where everyone brings their favorite Independence Day dishes.\u00a0 <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>You could even turn the food into a competition, awarding prizes for the best burgers, dogs, potato salad, dessert, or whatever other bits of deliciousness your employees come up with.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Music<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Put one of your committee members in charge of creating a 4<sup>th<\/sup>\nof July playlist.&nbsp; True, you may not be\nable to play the music nonstop \u2013 you do have a business to run, after all, but\nwhen and where possible, the music will definitely add to the festive feel of\nthe day.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Games And Contests<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>There are a wide range of games and contests you can introduce\nto the day to add a bit of friendly competition to the day.&nbsp; This could be anything from toilet paper\nbowling to a pinata, to various team building games you may already know and\nhave in your back pocket.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Incorporate An Awards Ceremony<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Finally, if you already have a reward and recognition\nprogram in place, your Independence Day celebration is a great time to\nincorporate a round of gift giving and recognition to your hard-working staff\nto show them just how much you appreciate all that they do for your company.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>If you don\u2019t yet have a recognition program, the 4<sup>th<\/sup>\nof July is a great time to roll one out.&nbsp;\nTo do so, although you\u2019ll have final say over what metrics are the most\nimportant, your employees should definitely have buy in on the overall shape of\nthe program that gets developed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The best way to accomplish this is to form a committee just\nfor the purpose of developing, steering and managing the recognition program,\ngive them your vision and the metrics you\u2019re most interested in tracking and\nimproving, then get out of the way and let them run with it.&nbsp; You\u2019ll be amazed at what they come up with.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Finally, bear in mind that you don\u2019t have to spend a ton of\nmoney on awards and rewards.&nbsp; It\u2019s not\nreally the size of the prize that matters, it\u2019s the fact that you take the time\nto recognize the contributions of those who work for you.&nbsp; That\u2019s how you improve morale and turn a good\n4<sup>th<\/sup> of July celebration into a great one.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>With people beginning to report back to their offices, you might be interested in doing something special for the 4th of July.&nbsp; If so, here are a few ideas to get your mind turning on how to get the most out of one of the most-celebrated holidays in the nation.
