If your business is in any way connected to the healthcare field, then you probably already know that the week of May 6th<\/sup> is National Nurses Week, an entire week set aside to honor the legions of nurses who work tirelessly on the front lines of our nation\u2019s healthcare system.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Even if your business doesn\u2019t have anything to do with that industry, given the fact of the ongoing pandemic, if ever there was a time to take a moment to sing the praises of our hardworking nursing professionals, now is clearly that time.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Odds are good that you know at least a few people in the profession.\u00a0 <\/p>\n\n\n\n

If you do, make sure you take a few minutes to acknowledge their hard work and the sacrifices they\u2019ve made to help us beat the pandemic back.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

If your business is connected to the industry, and you\u2019ve got an award and recognition program established, this would be a good time to pad the budget slightly so you can do a little something extra special for the nurses that are either in your employ directly, or who work closely with your company.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Nurses have really been the unsung heroes of the current crisis.  Sure, high profile doctors grab most of the headlines and virus manufacturers and research scientists get talked about for their contributions, but nurses are often overlooked, and they\u2019re the ones who have been wading into the deepest part of the muck for more than a year now to meet the threat of the virus head on.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

You certainly don\u2019t have to lavish them with gifts or get them anything extravagant.\u00a0 <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Even a small token of appreciation or a handwritten note acknowledging their hard work would be greatly appreciated, though if you\u2019ve got room in your budget for more than that, that certainly wouldn\u2019t be amiss either.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

How about a gift basket, filled with a variety of sweet treats<\/a>?  A soup mug and spoon<\/a>, complete with a couple of packets of wholesome and delicious soup?  Or, you could veer toward the more practical and put together a package of hand sanitizer and PPE<\/a>, which always seems to be in short supply and as such, is always appreciated.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The nurses of America have literally been risking their lives and health for all of us over the past year.  That fact makes Nurses Appreciation Week seem even more compelling than usual.  After all, while a nurse\u2019s job is never easy, this year has been an especially trying one for everyone in the medical profession, but nurses most of all.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

All that to say, be sure to take time out of your day to thank every nurse you see, and if your budget will allow it, show them some appreciation on the week established specifically to honor them and their hard, ongoing work.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
