{"id":5475,"date":"2021-08-28T20:44:39","date_gmt":"2021-08-29T00:44:39","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.successories.com\/blog\/?p=5475"},"modified":"2021-12-16T15:38:03","modified_gmt":"2021-12-16T20:38:03","slug":"womens-equality-day-is-coming-are-you-ready","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.successories.com\/blog\/womens-equality-day-is-coming-are-you-ready\/","title":{"rendered":"Women\u2019s Equality Day Is Coming \u2013 Are You Ready?"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>If you weren\u2019t aware, Women\u2019s Equality Day is August 26<sup>th<\/sup>.&nbsp; It\u2019s an important celebration that pays homage to the women\u2019s suffrage movement and serves as a day set aside to remember the hurdles that women in history have had to overcome to gain equal rights and full participation in our society.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>It\u2019s also a time to reflect on the hurdles that still have to be overcome.&nbsp; After all, one need only look at the American economy to see that while women are better represented in some fields, to this day, they\u2019re still not as well represented as they should be, to say nothing of the fact that there are still some troubling disparities in pay.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>All that to say that it\u2019s an important day and if you want to improve morale at your company and demonstrate that you stand behind the women\u2019s suffrage movement, here are a few things you can think about putting in place at your company, using the 26<sup>th<\/sup> as your kick off date:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Start A Mentoring Program<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This is especially valuable if you don\u2019t have good female representation in management at your company.\u00a0 Part of the reason why may be the case that the women you have working for you just don\u2019t have the same number of opportunities to advance down those career paths.\u00a0 <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>A mentoring program is a fantastic way to begin to remedy that.\u00a0 Even better, it\u2019s something that\u2019s super simple to set up, and something that every employee you\u2019ve got working for you can benefit from.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Update Your HR Department\u2019s Library<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Most companies have employee educational resources available, and those resources are almost invariably made available via the company\u2019s HR department.&nbsp; If you\u2019re not sure how well stocked your HR library is, you\u2019ll definitely want to step down the hall and check it out.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>If you find it lacking in the area of women\u2019s rights and equality, then that\u2019s an easy fix.&nbsp; It\u2019s as easy as sitting down with your HR manager and coming up with a list of quality titles, then making funds available for their purchase and announcing it.&nbsp; It\u2019s a very easy way to become a hero in the eyes of your female employees.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Incorporate Women\u2019s Equality Into Your Recognition Program<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Women\u2019s Equality Day is a fantastic day to give a shout out to and call attention to the achievements of the most powerful and talented women you\u2019ve got working for you.\u00a0 <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Not only is recognition in general good for your company\u2019s productivity, but it also demonstrates that you know, understand and appreciate the struggles that women have faced in the past and the challenges currently confronting them.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>There are, of course, plenty of other things you can do to make this year\u2019s Women\u2019s Equality Day a memorable one, but even if you limit yourself to just the three items mentioned above, you\u2019ll find that you\u2019re miles ahead of many of your competitors and you\u2019ll paint yourself as a manager and business owner who understands the unique challenges women face in society today.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>If you weren\u2019t aware, Women\u2019s Equality Day is August 26th.&nbsp; It\u2019s an important celebration that pays homage to the women\u2019s suffrage movement and serves as a day set aside to remember the hurdles that women in history have had to overcome to gain equal rights and full participation in our society.&nbsp; It\u2019s also a time [&hellip;]<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":6,"featured_media":0,"comment_status":"open","ping_status":"open","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"footnotes":""},"categories":[11],"tags":[],"class_list":["post-5475","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","hentry","category-workplace-holidays-parties"],"yoast_head":"<!-- This site is optimized with the Yoast SEO plugin v25.4 - https:\/\/yoast.com\/wordpress\/plugins\/seo\/ -->\n<title>Women\u2019s Equality Day Is Coming \u2013 Are You Ready?
