As first reported by Bloomberg he said about employees: \u201cthey didn\u2019t\u2019 work as hard, regardless of what they tell you\u201d and also due to the money they save on commuting and food.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Blackstone was one of the first large firms to ask their employees to come back in to the office post pandemic, and for all 5 days of the work week.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>On the other side, you\u2019ve got managers across a broad spectrum of industries who are using flexible working arrangements as an incentive to attract and keep employees, and they seem to think differently.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Of interest, and definitely related to the debate, a recent KPMG CEO Outlook survey revealed that a solid majority (<a href=\"https:\/\/amp.theguardian.com\/business\/2023\/oct\/24\/remote-employees-dont-work-as-hard-says-head-of-worlds-biggest-commercial-landlord\">64% of leaders worldwide<\/a>) believe that by 2026, we\u2019ll see a full return to in-office work.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>At the end of the day, it doesn\u2019t really matter which side of the debate you\u2019re on.&nbsp; If you\u2019re in the camp that sees working from home as a pandemic-fueled aberration, you may be silently hoping, or even actively working toward the goal of getting all of your employees back into the office, or, you may be leveraging work-from-home as a lure to increase employee retention.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Either way though, for now at least, odds are good that you\u2019ve got at least some employees working from home, and if you do, then what matters more than the longer-term trend is keeping them motivated and productive.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.successories.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/10\/bigstock-Concentrated-Young-African-Wom-465655541.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"683\" src=\"https:\/\/www.successories.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/10\/bigstock-Concentrated-Young-African-Wom-465655541-1024x683.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-5831\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.successories.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/10\/bigstock-Concentrated-Young-African-Wom-465655541-1024x683.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/www.successories.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/10\/bigstock-Concentrated-Young-African-Wom-465655541-300x200.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.successories.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/10\/bigstock-Concentrated-Young-African-Wom-465655541-768x512.jpg 768w, https:\/\/www.successories.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/10\/bigstock-Concentrated-Young-African-Wom-465655541-1536x1024.jpg 1536w, https:\/\/www.successories.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/10\/bigstock-Concentrated-Young-African-Wom-465655541.jpg 1600w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px\" \/><\/a><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>That is a legitimate challenge, because productivity issues or their lack aside, one thing we do know is that employees who work from home tend to feel isolated and less connected to the companies they work for, and this disconnectedness can lead to low morale and low job satisfaction.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>To put it simply, many employees who work from home feel forgotten.&nbsp; It\u2019s the old \u201cout of sight, out of mind\u201d paradigm, and there is some truth to it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The good news is that there are some simple, practical things managers and business owners can do to remedy those feelings.&nbsp; Here are three ideas you could implement, starting today, if that\u2019s a concern for you:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>#1 \u2013 Improved Communication<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This is perhaps the simplest solution.&nbsp; One of the big reasons that employees who work from home tend to feel disconnected is that they\u2019re often left out of the communications loop.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>When an employee is in the office, it\u2019s quick, easy and convenient to drop by someone\u2019s cubicle and check in.&nbsp; Zoom, Skype, or even a good old fashioned email to check in and touch base at somewhat regular intervals can do wonders, and if you have an open door policy for employees \u201cin office,\u201d then try establishing an \u201cOpen Skype\u201d (or whatever communications tool your company uses) for remote employees.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>#2 \u2013 Don\u2019t Forget Them At Meetings<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>It only takes a couple of extra steps to make sure that your remote employees can participate in team meetings, but too often, they miss out on those and have to be filled in via email later.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Again, technology provides the answer.&nbsp; It\u2019s a fairly simple matter to set up a digital meeting, or to arrange digital participation for your remote employees so they can participate in a face to face meeting, and this goes a long way toward keeping the remote segment of your workforce plugged into the latest happenings at the office.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>#3 \u2013 Take Time To Recognize Their Contributions<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Study after study has shown that an employee recognition program is one of the best and most cost-effective ways of improving employee job satisfaction, increasing retention and boosting productivity, so if you already have one established, the time to do so is now!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>When you\u2019ve got your program up and running though, it\u2019s important to be sure that your remote employees are included for consideration when it comes time to recognize someone for their contributions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Again, this is something that\u2019s very easy to overlook since you don\u2019t see remote workers very often.&nbsp;
