Resenteeism is a recent addition to the lexicon of the modern workplace.\u00a0 It\u2019s a word used to describe an employee who remains at his post, staying at a job he doesn\u2019t like, even though he\u2019s deeply dissatisfied with continuing to work there.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This is essentially the flip side of the Great Resignation, where employees will simply quit when they become dissatisfied, relying on the strong labor market to carry them to a new and hopefully better job.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In this case, whether it\u2019s inertia or habit, or something else entirely, the employee chooses to remain, however, the deep dissatisfaction will result in decreased morale and productivity, and you\u2019ll begin to see increasingly worrying behaviors such as chronic tardiness (or leaving early), and you\u2019ll notice that the employee in question stops, or seldom contributes new ideas or actively participates in meetings.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Worse still, such an employee can badly damage your company\u2019s culture, to the point that his behavior begins impacting others.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
