In fact, new research shows remote teams are thriving. Let\u2019s take a closer look:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Productivity Is Still Strong<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.akamai.com\/newsroom\/press-release\/getting-remote-right-akamai-i4cp-survey-finds-83-percent-of-remote-friendly-companies-report-high-productivity?utm_source=\">A new study<\/a> from the Institute for Corporate Productivity and Akamai Technologies found that:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>83% of companies with remote-friendly policies report high productivity levels.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>21% say productivity is very high.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>62% report it as high.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>That\u2019s not an outlier either. A <a href=\"https:\/\/www.gallup.com\/workplace\/694361\/hybrid-work-retreat-barely.aspx\">recent Gallup poll<\/a> backs it up, showing that hybrid and remote employees remain just as productive as their counterparts who are in the office every day, and, in many cases, remote employees report higher engagement and wellbeing.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Gallup\u2019s findings echo what most of us already suspect.&nbsp; When people feel trusted, supported, and balanced, they do great work no matter where they sit.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Trust Over Tracking<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>What makes the Akamai data even more interesting is that a staggering 62% of remote-friendly companies don\u2019t use surveillance tools like VPN logs or key-tracking software.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Instead, they rely on mutual trust.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Akamai, for example, reports:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Higher performance ratings<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>A low 7.3% attrition rate (compared to the global tech average of 13%)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>That\u2019s a strong sign that culture, rather than strict control, is what drives productivity.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">The New Normal<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>The same report shows just how much the world has changed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>52% of companies now say that remote work is their default model.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Only 7% plan to revert back to fully in-office operations.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>86% still host strategy and team building events in person, but the frequency is limited to just once or twice a year.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>So, we\u2019re not losing teamwork, we\u2019re just redefining how and where it happens.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>For a lot of businesses, the decision to keep remote friendly policies isn\u2019t really about cost, it\u2019s about keeping your talent where they are, working for you, as opposed to working for someone else.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In addition:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>72% of survey respondents said offering flexible work expands their hiring pool<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>62% see it as a deliberate way to boost work-life balance.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Nearly 80% also provide mental health benefits<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>and over 50% reimburse home office costs.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>That\u2019s not just generosity, it\u2019s smart retention strategy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Culture Beats Control<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>If you\u2019ve been debating an RTO (Return to Office) mandate, these findings are worth thinking about.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Productivity clearly isn\u2019t tied to proximity to your actual office space. Forcing people back into cubicles won\u2019t automatically lift performance; in fact, it may chip away at morale and retention.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The companies seeing the strongest results are the ones investing in connection, rather than control. They\u2019re creating opportunities for employees to collaborate, celebrate wins, and feel valued, even at a distance.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>A Final Thought<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>If your remote team\u2019s output feels off, it might not be because they\u2019re home, it might be because they\u2019re not feeling recognized.
