Don’t forget to recognize your remote employees!

The pandemic has changed the workplace landscape, possibly forever.  Even now, many companies have significant percentages of their employees working from home.  Some companies are considering or have already decided to make that change permanent.

Unfortunately, it’s all too easy to forget that your remote employees are out there.  Even where companies have recognition programs, remote employees seldom get the same level of recognition that in-office employees do.

If you’ve got staff working remotely, don’t let that be their fate!  There are a number of simple things you can do to recognize and show appreciation to your hard-working, but seldom seen employees.  Here are a few ideas to get your mind turning on the subject:

Leverage the Power of Social Media

It is very likely that you already leverage one or more social media platforms to market your company and the products you sell.  That’s all well and good, but why not use it for a different purpose?  Why not recognize a deserving remote employee by singing their praises on whatever platform you utilize?  If you do, just be sure the employee you recognize is aware of it, so he or she can point others to the kudos!

Virtual Celebrations

Back before the pandemic, it was fairly common to have a birthday or anniversary celebration when the day arrived.  Somebody made a cake and there was time blocked out to relax and put the birthday boy or girl in the spotlight for a little while.

Why not do that same thing, but virtually?

Send a cake, then have a Zoom Meeting and have all the people in the employee’s group log on and spend time with them.  It’s still not as much fun as an in person gathering, but it can be magical in its way.
